Keeping Positive During the Job Search

Keeping Positive During the Job Search Several months ago, I assisted a local woman with creating a resume and cover letter for her job search. Fortunately, I had known her for several years and we were able to develop a nice package that showcased her skills. As I am writing this, we all realize that finding a job in today’s challenging economy can become time-consuming, frustrating, and disheartening. However, I also would like to point out that perseverance, determination, and hard work really pay off when seeking an opportunity. This particular client, Lynn, was exactly this type of hard-working person. She took her job search seriously and even when it seemed like there may not be that ‘perfect job,’ she continued to network, read advertisements and be open to possibilities. Fortunately for me, Lynn has kept in touch throughout this process. Several weeks ago, I received an e-mail that stated she had found a job and the interviewers enjoyed reading her resume. “The last interviewer stated that he did not feel the need to ask me standard questions, as the resume told him all he needed to know.” Furthermore, she told me about her last interviewâ€"the job she had received. “The interview on Monday was so different than all others, he stated he would be interviewing all week long.” Rather than dwell on the additional interviewees and what the employer may find in other candidates, Lynn was proactive. “I sent him a thank you note on Monday after I came home; he called yesterday and stated that he wanted to offer me the job and he would cancel all other interviews if I accepted the offer.” Lynn has shown initiative and tenacity during this process and she now has a great job. Develop a system for yourself during your job search and realize that you may have just not found the right opportunity yet. Keep positive, network with other people, and be aware of hidden opportunities that give you valuable experience. Choosing a Certified Professional Resume Writer like Feather Communications can give you the added advantage of hiring someone that writes resumes professionally. The resume will get you the interview; you will have to do the rest. My client closed with the following: Thank you so much for taking my information and making it stand out from others. This is why I do what I doâ€"there is nothing better than helping people like Lynn achieve their career goals.
